Entertainment. It’s a tricky little bugger. There are so many options it’s hard to narrow your focus down to just a few subjects. For UR #5 the producers had a movie review segment and an in-studio performer. Because none of the shows had ventured into the realm of entertainment, it was a new experience for them.
For the movie segment, timing was everything. Will White did a VO for each of his five favorite horror flicks meaning the video had to match up perfectly with his voice. One of the challenges with the movie segment is getting footage. The producers took movie trailers off the Internet for each VO. But what they didn’t know was that Final Cut Pro would not be able to render the video because the files were trying to connect to something deep in the Internet. Solution: once you have the video offline and into Final Cut, make the timeline into a self contained Quick Time movie so the program reaches for the file instead of the Internet. The other option is to simply take the footage from a DVD or VHS, but that’s a problem if no one owns the movie.
